Question 1

What internet speed do I need?

Accepted Answer

For basic browsing and email, 10-25 Mbps is sufficient. For streaming HD video, aim for 25-50 Mbps. For a household with multiple devices, gaming, or 4K streaming, 50-100 Mbps or higher is recommended. We'll help you pick the right package based on your usage.

Question 2

Fibre vs Wireless — which is better?

Accepted Answer

Fibre offers the most consistent speeds and reliability, making it ideal for homes and businesses with high bandwidth needs. Wireless (WISP) is faster to deploy and works well in areas where fibre infrastructure isn't available yet. Both are excellent — it depends on your location and requirements.

Question 3

How long does installation take?

Accepted Answer

Fibre installation typically takes 5-10 business days from order to activation, depending on your area and whether infrastructure is already in place. Wireless installations can often be completed within 2-5 business days. We'll give you a confirmed date before we start.

Question 4

Do you offer uncapped plans?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We offer both capped and uncapped fibre and wireless packages from multiple network providers including Vumatel, Openserve, Frogfoot, and MetroFibre. Our team will help you choose the best option for your budget and usage.

Question 5

What equipment is included?

Accepted Answer

Your installation includes an ONT (optical network terminal) for fibre or a CPE/router for wireless, a WiFi router, and all necessary cabling. Our technicians handle full setup including WiFi configuration throughout your premises.

Question 6

How do I check if fibre is available at my address?

Accepted Answer

Use our Coverage Checker on the Connect page, or simply WhatsApp us your address. We'll instantly check availability across all major fibre networks and let you know your options, pricing, and estimated installation timeline.

Question 7

How much does CCTV installation cost?

Accepted Answer

Pricing depends on the number of cameras, resolution, and whether you need recording equipment. A basic 4-camera system starts from approximately R8,000 installed. We provide a free on-site assessment and fixed-price quote with no hidden costs.

Question 8

Can you upgrade existing cameras with AI?

Accepted Answer

Yes. If your existing cameras are ONVIF-compatible, we can often flash them with smart detection firmware to enable smart detection (person, vehicle, intrusion) without replacing the hardware. We assess compatibility first and only flash models we've tested and verified.

Question 9

Do you offer 24/7 monitoring?

Accepted Answer

Yes. GTL's monitoring service keeps your cameras and alarm systems watched around the clock. When an alarm triggers or a breach is detected, you're alerted immediately — along with armed response dispatch if needed.

Question 10

What happens when an alarm triggers?

Accepted Answer

An instant alert is raised. The event is verified through camera footage, you're contacted immediately, and your designated armed response or security provider is dispatched. You receive a notification via SMS or app within seconds.

Question 11

What is a cybersecurity audit?

Accepted Answer

A cybersecurity audit is a comprehensive assessment of your organisation's digital infrastructure. We identify vulnerabilities in your networks, systems, and processes, then provide a detailed report with prioritised remediation steps. This includes security testing, policy review, and risk scoring.

Question 12

What is POPIA compliance?

Accepted Answer

The Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) is South Africa's data protection law. Compliance means your organisation has proper policies, procedures, and technical safeguards to protect personal data. We handle the full compliance framework — policies, staff training, system audits, and ongoing support.

Question 13

How often should we do a security audit?

Accepted Answer

We recommend a full cybersecurity audit annually, with vulnerability scans quarterly. If you process sensitive data or handle customer information, more frequent assessments may be required. We offer annual retainer packages for ongoing protection.

Question 14

Do you offer employee training?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We conduct phishing simulations, security awareness workshops, and POPIA training for staff at all levels. Human error is the #1 cause of breaches — our training programs reduce risk significantly.

Question 15

What smart home devices do you install?

Accepted Answer

We install and configure smart lighting, smart locks, video doorbells, smart thermostats, motorised blinds, smart plugs, speakers, and whole-home automation systems. We work with leading brands and ensure everything integrates seamlessly.

Question 16

Do I need WiFi for smart home devices?

Accepted Answer

Most smart home devices require a stable WiFi connection. We design and install mesh WiFi systems that provide whole-home coverage, ensuring every device stays connected — even in large properties or multi-story homes.

Question 17

Can I control everything from my phone?

Accepted Answer

Yes. All our smart home installations come with a unified mobile app that lets you control lighting, security, climate, and entertainment from anywhere. We also set up voice control with Alexa or Google Assistant if preferred.

Question 18

Do you offer SLAs?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We provide tailored Service Level Agreements for business clients with guaranteed response times, uptime commitments, and dedicated support channels. SLA terms are customised based on your needs and service scope.

Question 19

Can you handle multi-site deployments?

Accepted Answer

Question 21
