CCTV & POPIA Compliance
South African law requires specific compliance when installing CCTV. We handle all of this for you.
POPIA Signage
You must display visible signage informing people that CCTV is in operation. This includes the purpose of recording, the operator details, and contact information for the information officer.
Data Retention
POPIA requires you to only retain footage for as long as necessary. Most businesses retain 30 days. Footage must be stored securely and access must be logged.
Employee Notification
If you monitor employees, they must be notified in writing. This includes break rooms, offices, and common areas. Notification must happen before monitoring begins.
Public Areas
Recording public areas (streets, sidewalks) is generally permitted. However, you cannot record audio in public without consent. Camera placement must respect privacy.

How much does CCTV installation cost?
A basic 4-camera system starts from R4,500 installed. An 8-camera home system is R8,900. Business systems with 16 cameras start at R18,500. Custom enterprise solutions are quoted per project. All prices include cameras, NVR, cabling, and installation.
Can I view my cameras on my phone?
Yes. All systems include remote viewing via mobile app (iOS and Android). You can view live feeds, playback recordings, receive motion alerts, and even talk through two-way audio cameras — all from your phone, anywhere in the world.
How long is footage stored?
Depends on your NVR storage capacity and number of cameras. A 1TB NVR with 4 cameras at 4K stores approximately 15–20 days of continuous recording. We configure motion-only recording to extend this to 30–60 days.
Can you upgrade my existing cameras with smart detection?
Yes, for compatible models. We flash Hikvision, Reolink, and select ONVIF cameras with smart detection firmware that adds person/vehicle detection. We verify compatibility before flashing. This reduces false alarms by up to 90%.
Do I need POPIA-compliant signage?
Yes. Under POPIA, you must display visible signage at the entrance to any area under CCTV surveillance. We provide custom POPIA-compliant signage with every installation — including your company details and information officer contact.
What happens during a power outage?
Our NVR systems support UPS backup. With a standard UPS (R800–R1,500), your cameras continue recording for 2–4 hours during load shedding. We also offer solar-powered options for remote locations.
